Sheryl L. Parker age 61 of Durand, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 at McLaren Hospital of Flint. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Durand Global Methodist Church. Pastor Aaron Kesson and Marv Elford will be officiating. Burial will follow to Greenwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 4-8 PM and one hour prior to the service.
Sheryl Lyn Munsell was born October 22, 1963 in Flint, a daughter of Thomas and Barbara (Morris) Munsell. On March 19, 1983 she married Kenneth Parker, and together they had three boys, all of whom were the light of her life. Sheryl enjoyed many hobbies and activities. She was a lifelong learner. You could often expect to find her learning a new craft or skill. She chose to go back to school to learn American Sign Language which she became very passionate about. Sheryl was an avid card player and was often the victor of any game she was playing. She was dedicated to her faith and gave much of her time and talents to the church. She enjoyed camping and kayaking, but most of all she enjoyed anything that included spending time with her family. She was a devoted grandma and took joy in going to her grandkids events or spending time shopping with them. Her passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of all she knew. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Senior Analyst in IT department at Sparrow Hospital for 25 years, and as an accountant at Mar Tek Plastics for 5 years prior to that.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, Ken Parker; children, Daniel (Jamie) Parker, Jason Parker and Shaun (Kara) Parker; grandchildren, Sybilla, Asher, Alyson, Kristen, Zoe, Thomas, Maverick and Anderson; siblings, Paula (Gary) Foster, Sue McKay, Jeanette Denning and Cathy (Todd) McCollum. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Hunter; parents, Thomas and Barbara.
