WELCH, Robert E. – of Davison, age 89, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Wounded Warrior Project, in Robert’s memory.
Bob was born in Burton, MI on August 31, 1932, son of the late Hartley and Elsie (Roat) Welch. Bob proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He married Barbara Jones in 1951, and she preceded him in death in 1990. He later found love again and married Evelyn Hill on November 12, 1993. He retired from Buick in 1994 after working for 42 years. He was known to be a hard worker, building houses since his younger years. Bob enjoyed being outdoors, spending his time golfing, fishing and hunting. He loved spending time doing these activities with his children and grandchildren. Bob was great at storytelling, whether the stories were true or not. Bob and Evelyn have spent much of their time travelling. Bob especially enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona. Bob loved his family more than anything, he will be greatly missed.
Bob is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Kathy (Bob) Spillane, Michael (Patricia) Rose, David Patrick (Anna) Rose and Terri (Randy) Gill; daughter-in-law, Becky Welch; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Hartley and Elsie; first wife Barbara; son, Robert; sister, Phyllis; and loving chihuahua, Sassy Rosita.
