BURNAINE, Mary Elizabeth - age 64, died Friday, February 19, 2021
at Halifax Hospital in Port Orange, Florida.
A private funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Cremation will take place following the service and inurnment of cremains will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or www.garysinisefoundation.org.
Visitation 4-8pm Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 18, 1957, the daughter of Russell and Theresa (Cummings) Wilger. On January 26, 1990 she married Donald Burnaine in Grand Blanc and he preceded her in death in 2018. She worked for General Motors before transferring to Michigan. Afterwards, Mary started driving a school bus for Grand Blanc Schools from 1994 to 2005. After a brief retirement, she became a substitute driver for Bendle Schools. Mary enjoyed senior outings in Port Orange, Florida and was also a member of the Burton Senior Center. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed going to casinos and traveling. Mary was a great friend to many and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are children, James Wilkinson and Laura (Tony) Lepard;
Grandchildren, Brenden, Sean, Casey, Jennifer, McKenzie, Sadie, Jacob, Hailey and Calliegh;
Mother, Theresa Wilger;
Brothers, Thomas (Teri) Wilger and David (Erin) Wilger;
And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by son, Daniel, father, Russell and brother, Leonard.
