SERR, Barbara Ann – of Clio, age 79, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at her daughter’s residence with family by her side. Family will receive friends at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Friday December 18, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. A private family service will be conducted at 4:00 PM and visitation will continue from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. Due to Covid 19 and government regulations, only 25 people are allowed in our chapel at one time and face masks are required. Thank you for your understanding. A public service will take place at Bethany United Methodist Church when it is safe to gather. Memorial contribution can be made to Bethany United Methodist Church in Barbara’s name.
Barbara was born August 12, 1941 in DuBois, Pennsylvania to the late Bert & Dorothy “Pearl” (Taylor) Keen. She graduated from DuBois High School with the Class of 1959. She married Vernon L. Serr in Clio and they have resided there since 1977. Over the years Barbara worked for Mass Mutual Life Insurance and most recently Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio for 15 years; not only was she the secretary of the church but was also a member and organist. Barbara loved shopping, eating chocolate and her church family. But besides her family her cats were her life, affectionately known as the “Cat Lady” or the “Queen Bee” Barbara touched the lives of many people.
Surviving are: Husband Vernon; Daughter: Sandy (Bob) Atwell of Clio; Grandchildren: Mistie (Jason) Rychwa, Ashley Brown, Bryan Peltonen, Aaron Peltonen, Tyler Peltonen, Justin (fiancé Jennifer) Meiser, Jeremy (Melanie) Meiser and Zachary Atwell; Great Grandchildren: Bryce and Riley; Siblings: Bassha Stratton and William (Janice) Keen. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her son Ronald Keen in 2016, daughter Pamela Peltonen in 2013, her parents Bert and Pearl, brother in law Robert Stratton and grandson in law Aaron Brown.
