Joyce Ann Harrison of Clio passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint MI 48507. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, July 7, at the funeral home, Pastor Dave Weir officiating.
Burial in Flushing Cemetery.
Joyce was born in the early morning hours on December 11, 1934, in Flint, Michigan, the youngest of seven children to Roy and Lila (Fournier) Haemmerlein. She graduated from Beecher High School in 1953. On April 5, 1958, she married Louis Harrison and they were married for 43 years before his death on July 2, 2001. Joyce worked for 14 years at AC Spark Plug before becoming a full-time homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She was a talented seamstress making many of her daughters’ clothes and enjoyed crocheting, making many lap quilts and hats that she donated to schools and hospitals. In the summers, she tended to a large garden on the family’s 33 acres and canned tomatoes by the bushels. After her husband died, she enjoyed bowling and spending time with her childhood friend, Joyce Stafford. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leaving to cherish Joyce’s memory are: daughters, Melissa (Ken) Lincoln, Michelle (Billy) Edwards, Minnette (Jeff) Harrison, Marina Allman; grandchildren, Matthew Lincoln, Michael Lincoln, William Edwards, Trevor Edwards, Kylie Allman; great grandchildren, Priscilla and Darci Lincoln, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Eldon, Marvin, Lovell, Viola Ruston, Leota Ingram and Dolores Visnaw.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Angel Manor, McLaren Hospice and Alternative Assisted Living for the wonderful care and love they provided over the past six months.
