The family will receive visitors on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11AM until 8PM and on Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service. Born in Brown City, Michigan to the late George and Agnes (Moyer) Young, Mary moved to Flint and graduated Beecher High School in 1954. She entered Hurley School of Nursing in August of 1954. Due to illness, she took a one year leave of absence. In April of 1955, she was hired into Bell Telephone as a long-distance operator. On August 26, 1955, Mary met the love of her life, Jackie William Brown. That one year leave of absence turned to many years when they married and raised six wonderful children. She never lost the drive to become a nurse, so she finished nursing school in 1985, enjoyed her career as an RN, and retired in 1995.

Mary has had too many blessings to list, however, she wanted to list a few. The first was finding the love of her life and spending the next 59 years with him. Their love for each other was beautiful to see. The second was all of the love and support she received from her family. The third was all the love and support she received from her friends.

Mary's family and friends will always remember her love of children and her notorious banana-peel sense of humor. She was still attending concerts and hockey games and had a tremendous vitality and love of life. She was a girl scout, brownie and cub scout leader, as well as a fabulous wrestling mom. Most people who entered her house for the first time became lifelong friends thereafter. At the end, Mary was looking forward to being with Jack once again. She will be strongly missed by everyone who was fortunate to know her.

Mary is survived by her beloved children, Jeffrey (Jackie) Brown, Gregory Brown, Brian (Teresa) Brown, Matthew (fiancé Beth Brooks) Brown, Joel (Janine) Brown, and Margo Brown, her four bonus children Bradley and Melanie Sullivan, and John and Shirley Cronin, her 14 grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Jordan (Natalie) Brown, Alex and Alison Brown, Carly and Morgan Brown and Brooklynn (Garret) Schilli, Nicole (Dave) Lindberg, Tiffiany, Thomas (Taylor) and Michael (Drea) Brown, Mary and Wade Brainard, and three bonus grandchildren, Courtney Severn, and Brooke and Holli Cronin, seven great grandchildren, Julian, Kali, Myra and Jack Brown, Harper and Ainsley Lindberg, and McKenna Brown, and one great-great grandson, Maddox Brown.
