Darryl John Kittell, age 67, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026. A funeral ceremony with full military honors will take place at 5:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the VEXAS Foundation (www.vexas.org).
Darryl was born on April 27, 1958, in Grosse Pointe, the son of the late Robert and Carolyn (Klein) Kittell. He attended South Lake Schools and graduated from Brandon High School, Class of 1976. Darryl proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving active duty during Operation Desert Storm. He later retired from the Army Reserves in 1999 after 23 years of dedicated service.
Darryl worked for the United States Postal Service for 28 years, beginning as a carrier and retiring as a supervisor in 2019. He was united in marriage to Brenda Smith on May 11, 2006, in Mt. Morris. In his free time, Darryl enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, and collecting stamps and coins. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, Lacy.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; five children, Stephenie (Curt) White, Trista Newton, Daniel (Trisha) Potter, Amber Potter, and Kristopher (Carl) Faraon; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, Issac, Landen, Urijah, Malachias, Hailey, Kaden, and Erik; eight siblings, Bobby Kittell III, Rick (Maria) Kittell, Chris (Kathy) Kittell, Tim Kittell, Brad (Ginger) Kittell, Nora (Bill) Page, Jay (Kristen) Kittell, and Katheren (Ron) Quinn; father-in-law, Donald Harris; special friends, Jesse and Rose Garrison; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Darryl was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George Smith, and mother-in-law, Karen Harris.
