WISMER, Doris Carol – of Clio, age 88, died peacefully after a short illness at home with her family at her side on Saturday, July 25, 2026 . She was a cherished mother, grandma, Gigi, and friend. Her presence will be deeply missed.
Doris was born March 18, 1938 in Deckerville, Michigan, the youngest daughter of Leonard and Sarah (Eckenswiller) Rosbury. She grew up in Sandusky, Michigan and attended Sandusky High School. On October 9, 1954 she married Harley Wismer and together they shared 57 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 2011. Harley and Doris enjoyed raising their family and traveling across the US making several trips to Europe, especially favoring Scotland and England. In their later years, they split their time between homes in Clio and in Florida where they would socialize, play cards and take in the local wildlife. Prior to her retirement, Doris worked for Neelands – Gil Roy’s Hardware as a sales-clerk with 28 dedicated years of service. Doris knew everyone, across the Thumb to Clio, she knew EVERYBODY, their parents, their kids, where they grew up and what they do for a living. If it was happening, she knew about it. Keeping up to date on all her people kept her busy and in her later years Facebook helped her stay connected; always being one of the first to send a little love on a post to those near and far, just to show her support. She was a member of the St. Charles and Helena Catholic Church and a member of the St. Ann’s Guild. She was a fiercely loyal win or lose Detroit Tigers fan and saved her Sundays for NASCAR. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially all degrees of grandchildren who knew her as Gigi. Doris had legions of dedicated friends, neighbors, family…a testament to a beautifully ordinary life well lived.
Surviving are her children: Debra (Roy) Crites, David (Kimberly Stanbro) Wismer, Daniel (Travis) Wismer; Grandchildren, Eric (Erin) Crites, Justin (Akiko) Brown, Laura (Steve) Cole, Katrina (Matt) Foltz, Tyler Wismer, Jessie (Jimmy) Wilkes, Griffin Stanbro and Hazel Wismer. Great-Grandchildren, Brittney Olvera, Lauren (David) Mielke, Anna Brown, Harley & Allison Cole and Colton Foltz. Great-Great Grandchildren, Isabella Olvera and Cade & Carson Mielke. Sister-in-law, Aileen Wismer, and many nieces and nephews she held especially dear. Special Friends who always made sure she had company, meals and that her yard was picture perfect, Kathy and Glen Grigar, Dennis Gates and Sue McIntosh. She was preceded in death by her Husband Harley Wismer; Daughters, Diane Brown and Donna Neeley, Son in law, Ken Neeley and an Infant Grandson; Siblings, Gladys Beatty, Helen Tobi, Harvey Rosbury and Annabel Hood.
