WELCH, Minnie - Of Grand Blanc, age 80, died Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
A private funeral service will be held at Swartz Funeral home in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Monday, December 14th. Visitation times will be noon - the time of the services at 2 p.m.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Minnie was born in Paragould, Arkansas on February 18,
1940.
Also known with the last names Abbey, Gentry, and Ogden.
She lived in Grand Blanc, Flint, and Stevensville.
She was an interior decorator in the Flint and Saginaw areas for many years. An owned Sir James restaurant in Swartz Creek during the 70's-80's. She worked for Bill Knapp's restaurant for 25 years, opening the Flint area locations.
Minnie was a beautiful woman, inside and out, that loved family dearly. She always looked amazing and ran into people she knew anywhere she went. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and "Nana" to her great grandchildren. She loved children and her family. Minnie left an impression on anyone she met and stayed close with many family members and friends.
Surviving are children, Susan Drake, Greg and Sandy Gentry, and Jeff and Lynn Gentry;
7 grandchildren, Amy Buchanan, Brandon and Amber Manley, Trevor Gentry, Cameron and Ali Gentry, Kaelin and Chris Giffel, Samantha Drake, Tala and Logan Harpenau,
and 15 great-grandchildren;
sister, Joyce Osborne and brother, Louis and Bernita Abbey;
She was preceded in death by her parents Pauline and Zebby Abbey, brother "Buddy" Charles Abbey, brother-in-law Russ Osborne, husband Gene Welch, ex-husband Floyd Ogden, and great-grandson Owen Drake-Zimmerman.
