Donald Joseph Coolich, age 81 of Swartz Creek, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. A celebration of Don's life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Family will receive friends at the Funeral home Sunday one hour prior to the service.
Donald was born in Flint on September 1, 1941, to Joseph A. and Pearl M. (Trepanier) Coolich. He graduated from St. Agnes High School in Flint, where he enjoyed being a member of the band and captain of the football team. He later graduated from Flint Junior College. On October 19, 1963, he married Linda Kaye Martin and together they raised 5 children. Don worked for General Motors for 42 years in skilled trades as a machine repair machinist before retiring.
Don was quiet and unassuming, but enjoyed a good joke, woodworking, building homes, upholstering, playing the cornet, restoring vintage Airstream trailers, and he could fix about anything. He also was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Flushing, the Airstream Band, Flint Concert Band, and the Norton Male Chorus.
Don and Linda spent many wonderful years married to one another, having just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. He has been an inspiration to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Coolich is survived by his loving wife Linda; children Anthony Coolich, Christine (John Levendosky) Robinson, Holly (Scott) Shaker, Adam Coolich, and Casey (Melissa) Coolich; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and brothers Gerald Coolich and Joseph (Susan) Coolich. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Monica and sister-in-law Lou Ann.
