ACKERMAN, Don Fay – of Flint, MI, age 92, was a man who loved God, his family, and life. He passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the East Flint Lions Club, 4352 Crosby Road, Flint, MI 48506. In Don’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to Absolute Hospice in Grand Blanc.
Don was born in Flint, Michigan on June 27, 1928, son of the late David and Ethel (McCann) Ackerman. He married the love of his life, Velva Grace Gleasure on May 14, 1949. Don was very active in the community. He was the Committee Chairman to Pack 181 and Troop 121. Don started the Eastern Michigan Woodworkers. He was a Master Woodworker and Carver. Don helped start the Royal Rangers at Faith Tabernacle Church. He loved the outdoors, traveling and reading. He was a member of the East Flint Lion’s Club. Don had the honor of being an ABC 12 “Person of the Week”. He retired from Summerfield Chevrolet in December of 1989.
Don is survived by his three children, Dennis (Robin) Ackerman, Lonnie (Pat) Ackerman, and Ronda (Samuel) Seeloff; five grandchildren, Missy (Deron) Walker, David (Lindsey) Ackerman, Chris Ackerman, Marci (Jeff) Mueller, and Ruth Eckert; four great-grandchildren with one more on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velva; two sisters and two brothers.
