Wood, Owen G. – respected businessman dies at 91, Owen Wood Co-Founder of Johnson Wood Mechanical Contracting passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the Hospice House of Shiawassee. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 1pm until 7PM and on Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 4PM until 8PM at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. A private burial will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
Owen was born April 19, 1932, in Clio, Michigan, to the late Edgar and Minamae (Scott) Wood. Owen was a Clio High School graduate and a Korean War Veteran. He worked for Amboy, and Mt. Morris Plumbing and Heating before starting his own company in 1970. Even after selling his business, he still enjoyed working with the new owners to help them expand their company and kept doing the work he loved. Over his long-life Owen also enjoyed golf, bowling and motorcycle trips. Above all he was an amazing man who will be greatly missed by many.
Surviving are: Sons: Dennis (Jill) Wood, Ross Wood, and Curtis Wood; Step Son, Chris Davis; he was blessed with several grandchildren and great grandchildren; First wife, Gloria Wood. He is preceded in passing by his second wife, Linda Lou Wood; Grandson, Christopher R. David, and Stepdaughter, Jacqulyn Davis.
