HORTON, Karen (Handlin) – of Flint Township, age 68, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 3 PM Monday, December 19, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 2-7 PM Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Whaley Children’s Center, in Karen’s memory.

Karen was born in Flint, MI on June 29, 1954, daughter of the late William and Rosa (Russo) Handlin. Karen worked for AC Spark Plug for over 27 years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of the UAW Local #651. Karen was an animal lover and loved sitting outdoors watching nature in her yard. She enjoyed feeding the deer and wildlife with her grandson, Cooper. Karen loved taking care of her cats and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her passion for music. Karen had such an incredible voice; she was charismatic, spread joy, warmed hearts, was generous and willing to help people in need.

Karen is survived by her son, Choya (Danielle) Horton; grandchild, Cooper; sister, Margaritta Cox (Handlin); brother, Tony (Wanda) Handlin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Colleen Handlin.
