LAFAYETTE, John Sr. “Sid” – of Mt. Morris, age 79, died Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial in Meadowview Memorial Gardens to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 3PM until 7PM and Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the family for future designation.
Sid was born February 14, 1947, in Grayling, to the late John and Margaret LaFayette. He attended Beecher High School and was a bus driver at Beecher schools for many years before retiring from Martin Leasing as a truck driver. On February 3, 1968, he married the love of his life and best friend, Carolyn Leach, and together they shared 50 years of marriage. Carolyn preceded him in death on February 12, 2018. Sid was a strong-willed man with a generous heart. He found joy in riding his motorcycle, spending time at the casino, and he never missed a U of M football game. Above all, Sid loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them.
Sid is forever remembered by: John LaFayette, Joseph (Nancy) LaFayette, and Jeffery (Tammy) LaFayette; Grandchildren: Eric, Joshua, Lindsey, Johnathon, Tyler, Alexis, and Samantha; 10 Great Grandchildren; Special cousin, Sharon Cripps; Close family friend, Craig; Beloved companion, Buster. Sid was preceded in death by: Wife, Carolyn; Daughter, Shawn Marie; Parents, John and Margaret. |
