VEDOCK, Joan M. - of Flint Township, age 81, died Friday, February 23, 2024.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton. Father Georges Bidzogo officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00pm - 8:00pm with a rosary at 7:00pm on Monday at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Visitation will be at the church at 10:00am on Tuesday until the time of the service.
Joan was born in Flint, Michigan on August 22, 1942, the daughter
of the late John and Mary V. (Novak) Ploucha.
She graduated from St. Michael Catholic High School Class of 1960.
On September 12, 1964 she married Edward J. Vedock at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint.
Joan was very fortunate to be able to be an over qualified Domestic Engineer during her tenure as the family matriarch, all with a wonderful sense of humor.
Joan was an avid bowler and devoted hockey mom. A caring person who often used her cooking skills to comfort others in time of need. She was also an artist and very crafty sharing her talents making her yearly Christmas ornament to give to family & friends. Along with her Wednesday lunch dates, her Friday evenings at Dom Polski she enjoyed her scratch offs, trips to the casino especially to Brimley and her yearly “geriatric“ weekend vacation at Secord Lake.
Joan was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Dom Polski of Flint.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edward;
Son: Tony (Cyndi) Vedock -Grandchild Mikalene, Great grandkids Nathan, Beau & Evelyn
Daughter: Julie (Bob) Stanton - Grandchildren Paige, Luke & Brooke
Brother John (Mary Ann) Ploucha; Brother-in-law John (Lois) Vedock,
Sister-in-laws: Anne Ploucha, Evelyn Ploucha; several nieces and nephews
Close Cousin & friend Janine Nagel and many dearly loved family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Raymond & James Ploucha,
sister Mary Kassem and brother-in-law Mike Kassem.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
If you were lucky enough to know Joan or run into her you were guaranteed to have a
good laugh and a good time.
