SSG Grier was born on 30 June 1986 in Flint, Michigan.

SSG Grier entered the United States Army on 25 September 2007. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia earning his Military Occupational Specialty of 25U (Signal Support System Specialist). Upon completion of AIT he returned home as a member of the Michigan Army National Guard. He entered active duty on March 3, 2020 and reported to Fort Lewis, WA on March 12, 2020. He joined the First Round Battalion on April 1, 2020 where he served as the S6 NCOIC.

His awards include: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (M Device), Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Medal (Numeral 2), Army Service Medal, Army Overseas Service Medal (Numeral 2), Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Medal and NATO Service Medal. His unit awards include a Meritorious Unit Citation.

SSG Grier is survived by his two daughters Madelyn and Adia, his son Daniel, and their mother Jennifer, mother Yvonne, brother Steven and wife Kayla and their daughter Alexis, and all his Army brothers and sisters and friends.

SSG Grier was preceded in death by his grandparents Drusilla Mae and Gladwin E. Lurvey and Ward and Leona Grier, his beloved Uncle Danny Grier (who was his father figure) and Aunt Nita Davis both who helped his mother raise him to be the man we all knew and loved, and countless aunts and uncles and cousins.

Visitation for SSG Grier will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hill Funeral Home - 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI. A funeral service will occur on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 12:00 PM, with a one hour of visitation prior at Hill Funeral Home. SSG Grier will be interred with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
