Michael Alan Cox, of Burton, Michigan, age 55, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 11, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 19, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church, 7306 East Atherton Road, Davison, MI, 48423; Pastor Shawn Kook officiating. Interment will be in Richfield Union Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 4-7 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI, and from 10:30-11 AM on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist School in Michael’s memory.
Michael was born in Flint, Michigan on August 26, 1968, the son of Bobby Dale Cox and Mary Dian (Cole) Tate. He married Sabrina Jenien Servis on July 31, 1993. Mike was a graduate of Ainsworth High School, Class of 1986. He then earned a Bachelor of Education degree and a Master of Special Education degree from Bob Jones University. In 2020 after 30 years of service, Mike retired from working at Faith Baptist School. He held many positions there which included history teacher, band director, and principal. Michael acted in school plays, directed and played in school concerts, led senior trips, and invested in every life he touched. After retiring from Faith, Mike couldn’t stay away from the teacher life and started working at GISD’s Transition Center where he spent his days helping young adults learn important life skills.
Michael served his Savior through music, discipleship, and service to others. To his students, he was a life mentor—Mr. C. To some, he was like family—Uncle Mike. To everyone, he was a friend.
Michael is survived by his brother and brother-in-law, Mark Andrew Cox and Michael Seyller; aunt, Evelyn Cox; many "adopted" sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews, as well as many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sabrina Jenien (Servis), father, Bobby Dale Cox, mother, Mary Dian (Cole) Tate, uncle, Jerry R. Cox, as well as grandparents, James R. & Sena B. Cole and Floyd A. & Birdie B. Cox.
