BERGER, Arlene – Of Frankenmuth, age 89, died Monday, May 20, 2013 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor R. B. Ouellette officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed To the American Heart Association. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Arlene was born in Pitcher, Oklahoma on October 14, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Molly (Buck) Hester. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Bridgeport and a former member of Landmark Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was a very giving person. Arlene retired from Hurley Medical Center. Surviving are her children, Patricia (Bill) Erkkila of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, Raymond of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jerry of Grand Blanc, Jim (Lisa) of Linden, David (Dorena) of Frankenmuth; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement; sister, Vinlee Taylor and brother, Eual Hester. A special thank you to the staffs at Hurley, Riverbend and McLaren for all their care and support.
