Ray Everett Hemingway, a man of gentle strength and unwavering kindness, was born on July 10, 1956, in Flint, Michigan, and passed away on October 26, 2023, in Lapeer, Michigan. Ray lived his life with a spirit of generosity and a heart full of love for his family, friends, and the community he called home.
Ray was a man who embodied the essence of friendliness, thoughtfulness, and gentleness. His warm smile and kind words were a beacon of light to all who knew him. He was a man who understood the power of a simple act of kindness and the profound impact it could have on someone's day.
He was a beloved brother to his sister, Ann Hemingway, and a cherished cousin to Bruce and Kay Hemingway, Bruce and Mary Hemingway, Susan and Jim Simpson, and Barb Smith. His close friends, Jeff, Howard, Gary, Ronna and Bill, and Julie Devine, along with Ohio cousins, Hemingway cousins, and many other family and friends, will remember him fondly. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Berniece Hemingway.
Ray's professional life was marked by hard work and dedication. He was a valued employee at Durakon in Lapeer for over a decade, where he brought his strong work ethic and positive attitude every day.
Beyond his work, Ray was a man of many interests. He found joy in the great outdoors, hunting in the quiet woods and appreciating the beauty of nature. His love for motorcycles and tractors was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
Ray Everett Hemingway's life was a journey of love, kindness, and generosity. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him to live their lives with the same warmth and compassion that he did. His memory will serve as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, we can choose to be kind, to be thoughtful, and to be gentle.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Ray’s Life will take place 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville, where family and friends may visit 5:00 Pm till time of service. Memorial contributions in memory of Ray may be made to the Wheeling Team 457 Group for disabled hunters. Ray’s cremated remains will be buried at Otter Lake Cemetery.
