Died: 12/17/2022
Age: 85
Community: Grand Blanc, MI

James “Jim” Hector Robinson, of Grand Blanc, Michigan, age 85, died on December 17, 2022. James is survived by his wife Karen (Cooper) of Grand Blanc, his sons Todd of Howell and Kyle (Kari) of Grand Blanc, grandchildren Dominic, Konnor, Olivia, Kaitlyn, and Kyra, many nieces and nephews and other special loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty VanRensburg. Jim was born on December 24, 1936 in Ewen, Michigan, the son of Hector and Rita Mae (Bacon) Robinson. He attended Eastern Michigan University, where he was on the track team. He was an avid pole vaulter and loved talking about his school records with the aluminum poles before the new fiberglass poles were used. Jim moved to Flint, Michigan after college and started his career with Flint Community Schools. Jim worked as a Community School Director and principal in Flint for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He often talked about the “good old days” of Flint Schools with fond memories of the Community School days. It was there that he met Karen, the love of his life. They were married in 1963. Jim was a devoted husband and family man. The family loved to camp, and Jim often told fond stories about their camping trips. He carried on the tradition with his grandchildren, who he loved feeding cherry pie for breakfast on their camping trips. Jim always had a witty response or a funny one-liner for every situation. He entertained his caretakers in his final days at Brookdale Memory Care with his comments just as much as he amused his family and friends for years.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Michigan.
