Gruener, Ronald Lee - Age 80 of Clio, Mi. and Lake Wales FL., beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather went to the big golf course in the sky on August 26,2022. A memorial service will take place at O’Guinn Funeral Home of Clio 503 Mill St. Clio, Mi. 48420 on Saturday September 17,2022 with visitation from 10am-1pm and a celebration of Life service from 1pm-2pm. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute
Ron retired from General Motors Truck Assembly, UAW Local 598 in October of 1996.Mr. Gruener was a veteran serving in the Army attaining the rank of Senior Drill Sargent performing his duties at Fort Polk, Fort Knox, Fort Leonard Wood, and the Flint Arsenal. He was involved in many extra-curricular activities throughout his life including the Scouting program holding many leadership positions over a thirty-year span. Mr. Gruener also sang the part of bass in the Flint Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus for several years and was a natural showman with his humor and facial expressions. Ron was a volunteer for the YWCA, the Quota Club of Flint, and GHCI and enjoyed being a volunteer for many years at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, FL. Mr. Gruener was an active member/volunteer at South Shore Resort, and Leisure Lake where he enjoyed calling Bingo, talking to members, and doing various projects. Ronald enjoyed many hobbies throughout the years including bowling a 700 series, golfing two “hole in ones” almost exactly a year apart on the same hole, fishing, and all you can eat buffets. Throughout his life Ron was a fan of everything Disney related and had a fond affection for a mouse named “Mickey”. Ron played Santa Clause for many years and for many charities. A huge Thank goes out to the staff and especially the nurses of the 5th floor Neuro ICU Unit at McLaren Hospital for all they did to make Ron’s stay comfortable
Ronald is Survived by his loving wife Patricia, Sons: Scott (Stephanie) Gruener, Steve (Denise) Gruener, and Andy (Michelle) Franklin, Brother, John Gruener, Sister Dolores (Ernie)Larson, Grandchildren: Jeffrey, Seth, Olivia, Lucas and Bayli. Great grandchildren: Landon, Maddox, Hendrix, and Mathias. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews, and his beloved fur baby, Piper. Mr. Gruener was preceded in death by his Parents, Norbert and Evelyn Gruener, Brother Norbert Gruener Jr. and his first wife Susan.
