LONGSTREET, CAROLYN J. – Of Grand Blanc, age 98, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Maple Place.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Al Farber, Grace Bible Church, Flint, officiating.
Visitation one hour before the funeral service at the funeral home.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Carolyn was born near Granite Falls, Minnesota to O.G. and Elisa (Iverson) Homme on August 13, 1922.
She graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1940 and attended Minneapolis Business College.
Carolyn worked for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Street Railway Co, Mpls in the Business Office and San Diego State Bank, San Diego, CA until her marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Longstreet on September 5, 1944.
Carolyn was devoted to her family and enjoyed family gatherings, summer vacations with family, Bendle School activities, having Child Evangelism classes in her home and was an active member of her church in younger years.
For many years, she volunteered at Fenton Extended Care for a dear friend, Judy Horton Eakin. She also was a temporary secretary at Flint Businesses. Carolyn and her late husband, Gerald, were avid travelers combining their special interests in the Historical sites.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; son-in-law, Ted Bruns; grandson, Donald (Donny) J. Longstreet, Jr.; her parents; three brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Donald J. (Kathryn) Longstreet and G. Craig (Joanne) Longstreet;
daughter, Glenna Longstreet Bruns;
grandchildren, Melissa (Steven) Gilkes, Kent (Cortney) Longstreet, Craig John (Jenifer) Longstreet, Jeanne Longstreet Corl, and she had a special love for her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Allison, Donovan, Gwendolyn, Jimmy and Jaime;
many dear nieces and nephews.
Those desiring memorials, family suggests Grace Bible Church- Flint or Child Evangelism Fellowship, Mt. Morris.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
