HOPAK, Stanley “Stan”– of Saginaw, MI, age 78, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 3-7 PM Friday, March 8, 2024, and 10-11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lymphoma Research Foundation.
Stanley was born in Flint, MI on November 28,1945, son of the late Stanley and Matilda (Pagach) Hopak. He married the late Sharon Kay Larson on January 18, 1969, in Flint, MI and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2008. He graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1963, where he played football and wrestled. Stan honored his country in the United States Navy serving 4 years and was honorably discharged on January 10, 1968. He worked for General Motors Buick Assembly in Flint, plants 5, 10 and 36 for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He met his partner, the late Renee King and her family and welcomed them as his own. He enjoyed golf at the Flint Elks, playing cards and cornhole. He loved to cheer on Michigan football, but most of all loved being with friends and his family he dearly cherished.
Stanley is survived by his daughter, Lisa Campbell and fiance’ Travis Triplett; granddaughters, Kasey Campbell and Kelsey Campbell; many nieces and nephews; extended family of Renee, Neil and Dawn Carter, Lisa and Dan Reuter, Nicole King and Suzanne, Gus and Emily Burns, Hannah Carter and fiance’ Jim McNally, Olivia Sellars and Natalija and Lexi Sellars; great granddaughter and ice cream buddy, Olive; best friend, Rick Burchell and many other close friends; four-legged feline friend, Baby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Matilda Hopak; wife, Sharon Hopak; his partner, Renee King; brothers, Al Hopak, Frank Hopak; sister, Mary Stanfill; nephew, Rick Stanfill; brother-in-law, Terry Larson, sisters-in-law, Vicki Larson and Joyce Hopak; mother and father-in-law, Spencer and Helen Larson.
The family would like to thank family friends, Kathy Canter and Shannon Searles and Compassus Hospice nurse, Marty for the loving care that they provided to Stan.
