Born on November 1, 1936, in Clio, Michigan, to the late David and Vera (Bashore) Harris, Joseph's life was a testament to the enduring power of dedication and joy. He proudly attended St. Mary High School in Flint, Joseph's early education laid the foundation for a lifetime of entrepreneurial ventures and community involvement. He channeled his industrious spirit into the successful ownership and operation of Harris Dental Lab and Harris Creative Advertising, both in Flint, as well as Harris Brothers Auction in Byron. His work ethic was unmatched, and his contributions to the business community were both significant and enduring.

On March 29, 1974, Joseph married his beloved Susan K. Freeman at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gaines, Michigan. Together, they recently celebrated 49 years of partnership, filled with mutual respect and unwavering support. Their union was blessed with a vibrant family: children Tammy (Ken) Wagner, Joey (Misty) Harris, Suzy (Antara) Harris, Becky Trent, Don (Jamie) Harris, David (Brei) Harris, and Darci (Jim) Williams. Joseph's legacy further flourished through his cherished grandchildren Stephen, Matthew, Adrianne, Eric, Madison, Evan, Jay, Tommy, Ella, Alli, Olive, Michael, Joshua, Nathan, Zachary, and Cooper, as well as his adored great-grandchildren Samantha, Gracie, Lexie, Ora, Graham, Natalia, Elese, and Luke. His role as a patriarch was filled with loving guidance and joyful gatherings that will be deeply missed.

Joseph's passion for horses was more than a pastime; it was a part of his soul. He raised and harness-raced trotters and pacers, and his enthusiasm for equine pursuits was contagious. Always eager to share his knowledge, he educated others on the nuances between trotters and pacers, fostering a sense of community among fellow horse enthusiasts.

Courageous in both life and work, Joseph never shied away from challenges. His loving nature was the cornerstone of his family, while his courageous spirit drove him to achieve his dreams. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his professional accomplishments to his personal hobbies.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, David and Vera Harris, and his brothers, David and Charles Harris. However, his spirit will continue to resonate through the countless lives he touched. His family, a testament to his love and courage, will carry on his legacy.

His memory will be treasured by his extensive family, including several nieces and nephews who looked up to him as a role model and mentor. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
