WEISHUHN, Joyce – of Turner, Michigan, age 88, died peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Serenity Assisted Living in Clio. Funeral service will be held 11:30AM Friday, December 8, 2023, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Friday from 10AM until the time of service. Honoring Joyce’s wishes, cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Joyce was born May 25, 1935, in Turner Township, Michigan, to the late Fred and Katherine (Petri) Schutte. She attended Arenac Eastern High School in Twining, Michigan, and she worked as a teller at Genesee Regional Bank for over 30 years. In 1954, Joyce married the love of her life and best friend, Bruce O. Weishuhn. Together Bruce and Joyce shared 66 years of marriage and raised three children: Terry, Rick, and Kathy. Bruce preceded her in death on January 16, 2020. Joyce was a true creative soul. She found solace in quilting, cooking, baking, and pottery. Her hands crafted beautiful quilts that warmed the hearts of her loved ones and her cooking brought smiles to the faces of many. Joyce also found immense pleasure in creating stoneware pieces, all capturing a piece of her unique spirit. Above all, Joyce's greatest joy came from the love and companionship of her family. She was the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Serenity Assisted Living for their kindness, love, and professionalism during Joyce’s time in the facility.
Joyce is forever remembered by her children: Terry (Sue) Weishuhn, Rick (Madeline) Weishuhn, and Kathy (Ken) Aylsworth; Grandchildren: Amanda (Matt) Harris, Michael (Audrey) Weishuhn, Nathan Weishuhn, Olivia (Dan) Trudeau, Dr. David (Samantha) Weishuhn, Dr. Luke (Taylor) Weishuhn, Matthew Weishuhn, Benjamin Weishuhn, Nicole (Jason) Stanley, and Chris Nottingham; Great-Grandchildren: Owen, Maya, Jane, Margot, Daniel, David, Ava, Brandon, Mia, Mikayla, Ian, and Alana Rose; Siblings: Fred (Vivian) Schutte and Darlene Rosser. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Weishuhn; Parents, Fred and Katherine; Sister, Betty (Ed) Bilacic; Brother-in-law, Lee Rosser. |
