Saginaw Street, Durand, Michigan 48429. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 20, 2026, immediately followed by a graveside service with burial at Union Plains Cemetery in Byron, Michigan.
Lary was born on September 20, 1942, in Durand, Michigan, to Hugh and Helen Drury. He graduated from Durand High School with the Class of 1960 and went on to build a life defined by hard work, integrity, and devotion to his family. On March 17, 1962, he married the love of his life, Kathy, in Manistique, Michigan. Together, they built a beautiful marriage and spent 63 years together.
A proud and dedicated worker, Lary was a journeyman sheet metal worker and longtime union member of Local 533 and later Local 7. Over the years, he also worked in HVAC and farming. No matter the job, he approached it with skill and determination. He was known not only for his strong work ethic but for his generous spirit. While working in HVAC and repairing furnaces, Lary often went above and beyond for those in need, especially seniors and families with children, because he deeply believed in paying it forward.
Lary was truly a pillar of his community. He was the neighborhood handyman, always ready with a tool in hand and a smile on his face. If something needed fixing, Lary was the one people called. He never hesitated to lend a hand, and he found joy in doing good deeds. His generosity and strong sense of community left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He loved fishing and hunting, but above all, he loved his family. Lary was loving, patient like a saint, caring, and a natural teacher. He led by example, showing his children and grandchildren the value of hard work, kindness, and perseverance. His steady presence and gentle guidance will be deeply missed.
Lary is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; his children, Penny (Todd) Tiltman, Terrance (Athenia) Drury, and Kelly (Steven) Kelly; his grandchildren, Corey Drury, Devon Drury, Travis (Lacey) Tiltman, Tyler (Danielle) Tiltman, Bradley (Lacey) Kelly, and Tucker Kelly; and his great-grandchildren, Kane, Hazel, and Kole Drury; Rowan, Ellie, Avaree, and Kylie Tiltman, Addison Kelly, and Claire Kelly; He is also survived by his brothers, Roger (Katherine) Drury and Gary Drury; his sister, Linda (Jim) Henry; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Drury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lary’s name to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
