Amanda Rochelle Marie Herrick (SHORTY) of Burton, age 37, died Wednesday January 22, 2025. A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday January 26, 2025, at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison, followed by a memorial luncheon from 5:00 -7:00 pm at Calvary Community Church 1201 W. 12th St. Flint. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated following the gathering. Those desiring may make contributions in Amanda’s memory to Genesee County Humane Society.
Shorty was born in Flint, Michigan on September 19, 1987, the daughter of Dwayne Duckworth and Dawn Herrick and has resided in the Burton-Flint area her entire life. Shorty attended Bendle High School where she graduated with honors in 2006.
Continuing her education, she attended Baker College, graduating with her Associate Degree in 2009. She loved children and animals and had a true passion for Rottweiler’s.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother; Dawn Birmingham, brother Devin Birmingham, sister Kaytryn Birmingham (Jesse), and step-father Kenneth Birmingham. She also leaves grandmother Linda Herrick, grandfather Allen (Kaja) Herrick, grandmother Delores Crewse, nephew Tatum, and a host of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Dwayne Duckworth, and grandparents: George and Phyllis Burke.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped make her funeral and dinner possible, especially her long time best friend, Kyle, for organizing the funeral and covering the remainder of the funeral expenses. Please share your condolences at
