Jackie "Jack" Lee Pierce
Age 90 of Byron, passed away Friday, May 16th, 2025 at Vibrant Life Senior Living in Durand.
Funeral services will be 1pm Saturday, May 24th, 2025 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Marlene Webster officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11am until the time of service at 1pm.
Jack was born May 2nd, 1935 in Battle Creek, MI., to Arthur and Mary (Blodgett) Pierce. The oldest of two children.
Jack graduated from Durand High school in 1953.
He met his future wife Marlene Fortress at Brewers Drug Store-Fountain shop in Byron, where Marlene worked and Jack was working across the street laying block for the new grocery store.
They married June 15th, 1957 in Byron. They were gifted an acre of land from the centennial farm Marlene grew up on. That is where Jack built their home and together raised three sons.
Jack worked 34 years at Midland-Ross in Owosso.
Jack enjoyed woodworking, having built several child's plywood pedal bi-planes. He also had his pilots license and owned his own airplane.
Jack is survived by sons Jeffrey (Joanne), Troy and Barry (Richard Kahn) Pierce; Granddaughter Sydney Pierce Kahn and several step-grandchildren.
Jack was predeceased by his wife, parents and sister Barb Hamilton.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Vibrant Life Senior Living of Durand, Ashley and the aides at Amira Hospice Care for their care of our father. |
