Lillian Georgetta Quigley, age 94, passed away on November, 12, 2023 at the Tidewell Hospice House in Bradenton, Florida.

Lillian was born on September 22, 1929 to James and Georgetta Goodwin in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Flint Technical High School in 1947 and Michigan State University, East Lansing, in 1953 with a B.S. in Foods and Nutrition. She worked as Dietitian/Manager at Victor Vaughn Residence Hall for girls at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for four years. She was Director of Dietetics at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, Michigan for twenty years before retiring.

Lillian married the late Wayne Ira Mortimer September 8, 1951. They had two sons, William Wayne married to Sharon Ferguson and Scott Allen, DDS married to Debra Clark. Both families live in Grand Blanc, Michigan. There are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her sister, Etta Mary Sanders predeceased her.

She married the late Hugh Will Quigley March 24, 1979, who passed away February 25, 2017 while on a cruise. They lived in Grand Blanc, Michigan until they both retired in 1985. They moved to Tennessee for the next sixteen years. Lillian was elected Queen of The Daughters of The Nile 1996-97, Abdiel Temple #147, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Lillian and her loving husband Hugh moved part-time from Tennessee to Florida in 1993. They lived on Anna Maria Island three years before moving in 1996 to Peridia Golf and Country Club, Bradenton as full time residents in Florida.

In 2013 they moved to a villa at Water’s Edge of Bradenton, Florida, a senior community.

Lillian was active in her church and community. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, ball room dancing, swimming, sewing, reading and her Maltese dog, Ms. Mini Mae. She was a member of Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America and was Directress twelve years for the Merrie Maker’s Unit. She was Queen Mother of the Red Hat chapter, Bradenton Bright Bonnet Babes, twelve years. Lillian was an active and positive person, surrounded by a loving, caring family and a host of friends whom she appreciated and loved.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Lillian at Water’s Edge in Bradenton, Florida on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Interment will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Florida 34241.
