COLWELL, Barbara Joy - Age 79, of Grand Blanc, died Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, March 5, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Road, Burton. Fr. Bob McGraw celebrant. Entombment in the Mausoleum at New Calvary Catholic Church immediately following the Mass. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc Thursday from 5-9 PM and at Church Friday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to Heart to Heart Hospice or the Susan B. Komen Foundation.
Barbara was born March 27, 1941 in Flint, the daughter of George and Catherine Marie (Cloutier) Holko. She was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary Catholic High School in Flint. She married Dewey Colwell September 14, 1973 in Flint. She had resided in the Grand Blanc area her entire life. Barbara was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Surviving are: her husband, Dewey; 4 children, Cathy Colwell (Lee) of Flint, Dean Jones (Melinda) of Flint, Denise Hogan of Texas, and Deanne Jones (Brian) of Morrice; daughter-in-law, Carlotta Colwell of Fenton; grandchildren, Ashley, Nicholas, and Amber Hogan, Ian Colwell, Jennifer, Jill, and Frankie Sisco, and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Delores Reid of Burton, Don Holko (Joan) of Lapeer, and Debbie Holko (Gary Oberman) of Texas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Terry Jones; son, Rick Colwell; and brother, Andy Holko. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the hospice workers, Tina Holko Fajardo, Miryea Fajardo, and Jazsmin Blue. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
