OISTAD, Shirley Ann (Stafford) – of Davison, MI, age 87, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, with her family at her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:30 PM Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment will take place following the Mass in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2-8 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Tuesday immediately followed by a Davison VFW 4087 Auxiliary Memorial Service. There will be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on April 20, 1935, daughter of the late George and Cora (Drinkwine) Carswell. Shirley retired from the Flint Journal after many years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Davison Auxiliary 4087. Shirley enjoyed Bingo, Bowling, Reading, and Shooting Pool in her younger days. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her many friends at Ballards. She hosted many Holiday Dinners at her home and was affectionately known as “Nana O” by her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Kendra (Dennis) Glutz, Tammie (John) Pruett and Kelly Wilson; 8 grandchildren, Christopher (Tracy) Roberts, Nathan Stafford, Courtney Pruett, Kenneth Stafford “KJ”, Kristine (Jesse) Costa, Adrian Sahouri, Richard (Tina) Verdier and Kayla Marie Stafford; 18 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth Stafford II; brothers, Daniel Carswell, George Carswell and Frank Carswell; sister, Doris McKenzie; her children’s father, Kenneth Stafford.
