DREASKY, Shirley A. - Of Flushing, age 88, died peacefully Sunday, September 11, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am Monday, September 19, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint,
Father Anthony Strouse officiating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 3-7pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on December 4, 1933, the daughter of the late Edwin and Bernetta Gerding. On November 29, 1975, she married Douglas D. Dreasky and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2019. Shirley worked at Michigan Bell Telephone and Sears & Roebuck as a switchboard operator. She was a long standing member of St Pius X Church, Clio Country Club and Dom Polski. Shirley enjoyed her retirement wintering in Arizona, golfing, spending time with family and friends as well as volunteering at the Genesee County Courthouse. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving are daughters, Dawne (Dennis) Nicholas, Rene (John) Perfetto, Laurie (Steve Beard) Willyerd and Gina Seal;
step-sons, Mickey Dreasky, and Michael Dreasky;
step-daughter, Julie Dreasky (Sawyer-Hynes);
sister, Charlotte Kalakay;
brother-in-law, Larry (Carol) Dreasky;
sister-in-law, Nancy (John Hattle) Shannon;
14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren;
and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Blake Gerding and Marlene Donaldson.
A special thanks to her loving and respectful caregivers and McLaren Hospice who, together, took care of all of us.
