ANDERSON, Lawrence John – of Davison, MI, age 81, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Friday, November 24, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Robert D. Taylor officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, immediately following the service in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-12 PM Friday, November 24, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project, in Larry’s memory.
Larry was born in Flint, MI on October 4, 1942, son of the late Richard and Jessie (Horton) Anderson. He was a graduate of Kearsley High School Class of 1960. Larry served his country with honor and distinction in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 until his retirement in 1980. After his military retirement, Larry embarked on a remarkable 34-year career with Boeing, where he applied the same unwavering dedication and commitment that defined his life. Outside of his professional life, Larry had a passion for a few hobbies that brought him immense joy. He was an avid bowler and golfer, always seeking to perfect his game and enjoy friendly competition with friends and family. Larry's most treasured role in life was that of a doting grandfather. He took immense pride in supporting his grandchildren in their various endeavors, offering guidance, encouragement, and love as they pursued their dreams. His presence in their lives was a constant source of inspiration, and he will forever remain a guiding light for them. However, above all else, Larry cherished the time spent with his family. Whether it was a simple gathering or a special occasion, he found the most joy in the company of loved ones. Larry's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering dedication, love, and the true spirit of a Marine. His commitment to both his country and his family will always be remembered with deep admiration and gratitude. Larry was a devoted family man, and his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived by 3 children, Larry (Kim) Anderson, Robert Anderson and Jim Anderson; 5 grandchildren, Cassie (Pete) Hayden, Kelsey Anderson, Rylee Gipson, Landon Anderson and Trevor Anderson; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 siblings, Dick (Laura) Anderson and Bruce (Kathy) Anderson; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jessie Anderson; wife, Virginia Santander Anderson.
