ENGLISH, Randall Ward
Age 79, of Lake Fenton, MI. passed peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2022. Randy is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nola (Nikki) Giles English, who is mourning the loss of “the love of her life”.
Randy was born in December of 1942 in Gratiot County, MI. to Chester and Helen English. While his parents were farmers they encouraged Randy, as well as their other two sons, to go on to college and to choose whatever career they wanted. After graduating from Central Michigan University in 1964 with his BA in history and his Master’s degree in history from Michigan State University he began his career in education at Beecher High School in Flint, MI. He taught at Beecher for 2 years, and then upon completion of his Masters of Library Science degree from The University of Michigan, became their head librarian for 23 years. Later he became the librarian for Brandon High School, in Clarkston, MI. In the late 90’s he and Nikki moved to Dallas, TX., for her to continue her education, where he became the librarian for Carrollton Christian Academy until his retirement. Even while in Texas Randall and Nikki maintained a summer residence in Michigan.
Randy is also survived by his son, Paul English (Amy) of Washington, IL. and his daughter, Eos Knepshield of Richmond, VA. Randy also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Emily, Tiffany, Russell, Joy, and Grace. Finally Randy is survived by his two brothers, Bob English (Gayle) and Rick English (Susan).
Randy’s marriage to Nikki was the most important part of his life, and together they spent many wonderful times with the families of their children, attending many pivotal events, such as high school and college graduations, in the grandchildren's lives. He also enjoyed reading extensively about a wide variety of topics but especially World War ll. He and Nikki loved to travel including Italy, France, Greece, Hawaii, and the islands of the Caribbean. Randy was most fond of their many trips to England. As an admitted Anglophile he loved all things British including British mysteries whether novels or dramatized on PBS. Finally, a great joy of Randy’s was watching with Nikki the sunsets across Lake Fenton from the deck of their home.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 South Leroy Street, Fenton, Pastor Jeffrey Jaggers officiating.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
