KUNZ, Marjorie Marie - Of Flushing, age 94 ½, died Friday, May 6, 2022 at Woodhaven Senior Community.
Funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 West Bristol Road, Flint,
Pastor Rob Prince officiating.
Burial in Montrose Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.
Visitation 3-8pm Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Saturday at church until the time of the service.
Marjorie was born in Saginaw, Michigan on August 11, 1927, the daughter of the late John and Elsie (Anderson) Hughes. Marjorie was a member of the Central Church of the Nazarene. Marjorie was married to Nelson W. Kunz for 52 years until his death in 2002.
Well known for her love of children as an early childhood educator and long term Flushing School Board member, she expertly advocated for the best interests of children. She taught a Parent-Child Co-operative Nursery School in Flushing for 32 years. Her favorite question for worried parents was “Will it matter 50 years from now??” She loved being part of the Flushing community and watching her students grow up and graduate. Marjorie also taught in the Early Childhood Program at Mott Community College.
Marjorie was an active member in Flint Central Church of the Nazarene. She developed their first Junior Church program and helped to design an early childhood wing. She also became involved in their Mission Trip ministry, taking her adult children and their families on a number of trips, including the building of three churches in South Africa.
A dedicated supporter of others, she lived her life often in the background, showing up and making things happen in the most unassuming way,…… aside from her affinity for sporty cars that accommodated her lead foot, snazzy outfits, and a closet full of shoes!
Surviving are children, David (Janet) Kunz, Bethany (Robert Bruce) Cronk, Timothy (Robyn) Kunz, Matthew (Tami) Kunz;
Grandchildren, Rebekah, Benjamin, Brian, Daniel, Gretchen, Hannah and Ivan;
10 great-grandchildren; And many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson, granddaughter, Sarah, sister, Lily and brother, James.
