Linda Kay Nickola, 72, of Grand Blanc, MI, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on September 6, 2022.
Linda was born October 12, 1949 to Lillian Kennedy and Earl “Duke” Nordman in Cheboygan, MI. At a young age Linda moved to Flint, MI and attended Ainsworth High School. In later years, she was fortunate to meet the love of her life and father of her three sons, David Nickola, Jr. Her role as wife and mother was an important one. Family was her primary focus, and that included extended family members and the families of her daughters-in-law, with whom she shared many holidays and special events. Her first beloved son, Damon, passed away in infancy, and her cherished husband passed away just a few years later. Linda carried on with strength, grace, and love, to provide an amazing supportive life for her younger twin sons, Mike and Nick.
Through the years Linda enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, photography, cross stitch, and doing puzzles. Spending time with her family and friends was Linda’s greatest passion. She was a kind, doting and generous mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Her door was perpetually open, always with an invitation to grab yourself a beverage from the garage fridge on your way in! Whether settling in with her on her comfy couches or resting on her back deck catching the warmth of the sun, Linda had a listening ear for whatever issues were on your mind, always without judgement, and the conversations would inevitably end with a hug. Clever and witty, Linda, with her contagious laugh, always brought a smile to your face.
A lover of animals, you could usually find one on or near Linda’s lap, including her young Shih Tzu, Willy. Linda doted on all her adopted pets through the years, including Abe, Nova, Bo, and Kibbles.
She will be tremendously missed, yet forever celebrated by all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her sons Michael (Marnie Boehlke) Nickola of Fenton, and Nicolas (Melissa) Nickola of Holly; treasured granddaughters Maisie Nickola of Fenton, and Savannah Nickola of Holly; sisters Judy (Howard) Borer of Washington, Nancy Stob of Kalamazoo, Lisa (Drew) Zager of Virginia; sister-in-law Nancy Nordman of Flushing; brothers Paul (Peggy) Nordman of Ohio, and Eric Nordman of Ohio; many special nieces and nephews; and long-time friend Vickie (Tom) Pabst of Grand Blanc. Linda was predeceased by her parents, son Damon, husband David Nickola Jr., and brother Gregg Nordman.
Celebration of Life is being held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Rd, Flint, MI 48507. Visitation will begin at 2:00PM followed by an informal service at 5:00PM to welcome story-sharing from friends and family. Cremation will take place following the service. Interment will be private.
