ROMANOWSKI, Joyce E. (Powers) – Of Flint, age 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Riverside Tabernacle, 429 NB Chavez Drive, Flint, Pastor Thomas Mattiuzzo officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Saturday and 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Romanowski will be at the church from 12 noon Monday until the time of the service.
Joyce was born on July 18, 1931. She graduated from Davison High School in 1950. She married Lawrence Romanowski on June 23, 1956. She was employed by Buick from December 15, 1952 until April 1, 1985. Joyce was then employed by E.D.S. from April 1, 1985 until 1990, when she retired. Her parents, Gladys and Rex Powers were charter members of Riverside Tabernacle. She grew up in the church and served God all her life. Joyce sang in the junior choir at the age of 14 and adult choir a total of 55 years, until she could no longer stand. She taught Sunday School with her husband and worked in the church tape library. She was a past member of the Executive Committee of the Republican Party. Surviving are husband Lawrence Romanowski; son, Scott P. Romanowski; brother-in-law, Bob Roth; sisters and brother, Charlene and husband David Linden, Jr; David and wife Cathy Powers; Susan and husband Sam Roelofs.
