Mr. Charles Stewart, Sr. was born September 29,1938 in Jackson, Tennessee the second child of Albert and Mary Alice (Hardeman) Stewart. The family relocated to Nashville, Tennessee where he grew up and attended Meigs High School.
Charles was employed by Buick Motor Division and was a member of Local 599. After working for General Motors for 40 plus years he retired in 2006. He attended services and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Charles was a kind, compassionate man, and was respected by all who met in contact with him. He had a zest for life, some of his greatest pastimes was watching football “GO MICHIGAN” first and foremost, but when football season was over basketball and baseball would have his attention. He was an avid bowler, bowling on man different leagues, and was a member of the Wheels of Zodiac Bike Club.
On Wednesday, November 24,2021 Mr. Charles Stewart, Sr. departed this life and leaves to cherish in God’s care his wife, Janet Davis-Stewart, 1 daughter, Sherry Stewart (John Chambers), 3 sons, Derrick Stewart, Carvell (Tressa) Stewart, Charles Stewart, Jr. all of Flint, MI, 4 stepchildren, DaRon (Kimberly) Glover, Sharonda (Michael) Boyland, Eugene Davis, and Laesa Mckenze-Cooper all of Flint, MI, grandchildren, Chyenne Stewart, Breanna Stewart, Devon Wilson, Carvell Stewart, Jr., Stefanie Stewart, Isiah Reed, Jayzymme Reed, Derrick Stewart, Jr., Quawdeicia Storey, Brittany Edwards, Zjohnitha (Devin) Hearns, Quinacco (Manuel) Davis, Ullysses Liggins III, Quinia (Kevin) Anderson, Akelius (Brittany) Liggins, Jordan Chambers, and Jalen Chambers, 4 sisters, Barbara Jean (Glen) Allmon, June (Thomas) Jackson, Joyce Ann Stewart all of Tennessee, and Ina Pearl (Fate) Nelson of Arkansas, 1 brother, Maurice (Cynthia) Stewart of Flint, Michigan. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, especially those from Big Star Market.
Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by parents, 2 brothers, Kenneth Stewart and Carey Stewart, grandson. Clarence “TJ” Stewart, and the mother of his children, Shirley Stewart.
