Russell Alan "Russ" Lawhead - Age 65, of Byron passed away September 17, 2026, at his daughter's residence. Funeral services will be held 4PM Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Visitation will be held from 12PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Russell's memory would be appreciated to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Tunnels to Towers or The Salvation Army.
Russell was born on March 27, 1961, the son of Richard David and Margaret Shirley (Brown) Lawhead. He married Carol Lynn Pulley in Brighton on June 28, 1986. Russell graduated from Howell High School in 1979. He started his career in the Tool and Die Industry and as a Journeyman with May & Scofield who encouraged him to obtain his degree in Mechanical Engineering, first at Western Michigan University and later at Lawrence Tech. He later became employed as a Mechanical Engineer with Roush in Farmington. This could not have been accomplished without his unwavering work ethic. Russell enjoyed hunting, boating, and was an accomplished water skier. Next to his family, “Bob Da Boat” was his pride and joy. He loved spending time on Hubbard Lake. Russ could often be found playing games, tinkering around the house, or being surrounded by his family. He was a huge fan of all Detroit sports teams and UofM football. Russell was the founding member of "The Girl Dad Club."
Russell is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Cara Lawhead, Coral Lee (Adam) Lawhead-Shipley, and Jerica Lawhead (Troy) Gdowski; grandchildren, Connor (Annabelle), Hailey, Dahlia, Kaylynn, Evilyana, and Gabriel; brothers, Rick (Michelle) Lawhead, Ron (Lisa) Lawhead, and Randy Lawhead; and several nieces and nephews. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Shirley Lawhead; daughter, Janice Matthews; and sister, Pam Olsen. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
