Bill was born in Keokuk, Iowa on July 8, 1943, the first born son of the late William F. and Jean (McAndrew) Goetz. On June 20, 1981, he married the love of his life, Hilary Brooks, in Duncanville Texas. Bill was an extremely proud father of his children and his entire family and wanted the best for each of them. Bill had a deep passion for basketball and was an all-state basketball player at Cardinal Stritch High School in Iowa. A true entrepreneur, he was the owner of William Goetz and Associates, founding partner of WGS Global Services and partner in Detroit Muscle. He was also a longtime active member of American Foundry Society. He was a strong supporter of the Elga Credit Union Foundation and was involved in the Flint Ignite Program. As a quiet, generous philanthropist to a community he lovingly embraced, he also continuously supported youth FA Basketball and AAU Basketball and sponsored many other men’s league teams. Bill was an avid car enthusiast, designer and collector, and a drag racer as well as being an inductee into the Horse Power Hall of Fame. He loved good music, physical fitness and was proud to share his stories of sobriety for over 44 years. Bill had a style that others couldn’t duplicate and was as genuine and as original as they come. He told the best stories that others couldn’t fit into a thousand life times. His heart was in building relationships with people. He loved a good conversation whether he met you at the gym, or walked past your table at a restaurant. Bill was a true visionary leader on bringing diverse groups together, but above all else, he loved his family, cherished his friends, and sought the good in everyone with no judgment.
