SMITH, Geraldine R. – Of Swartz Creek, age 98, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Symphony Linden.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Michigan. Visitation 11am Tuesday until the time of service at church.
The family will receive friends 6pm-8pm on Monday, July 11 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Visitation will also be held from 10am-12pm on Friday, July 15 at Heath Funeral Home, 321 W. Garland St. in Paragould, Arkansas.
A Graveside Service and burial to follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Arkansas.
Geraldine was born in Paragould, Arkansas on September 26, 1923, the daughter of the late Cecil and Cora (Cotton) Butler. She married Jones A. Smith in 1942 in Paragould, Arkansas. Geraldine was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Flint Osteopathic Hospital Guild and the Swartz Creek Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Smith was employed by the Flint School District as a Teacher’s Aide for 15 years.
Surviving are 2 sons, Gregory L. and wife Donna of Flint, Stephen L. and wife Lisa of Flint;
2 granddaughters, Erin (Eric) Chesser and Stacey (Jeremey) McKee;
3 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Madison and Jackson;
3 sisters, Ceceila O'Bannon of Houston, Texas, Correan House of Bossier City, Louisiana and Jovean Butler of Memphis, Tennessee;
2 brothers, James Butler of El Paso, Texas and Wayne Butler of Dallas, Texas;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jones A. in 1997; son, Philip Smith, in 1970; and sisters, Louise Grooms, Euna Mae Murdoch, Roma Jean Davis, and
Kathryn Stark.
Those desiring may make contributions in Geraldine’s name to the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek, Michigan.
