LOAR, Mrs. Ramona Jessie - Of Davison, age 96, departed this Earth peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Americana Seniors in Davison, Michigan.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Friday, May 2, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1811 Seymour Avenue, Flint, Father Thomas Firestone officiating.
Visitation 5-8pm Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Family hour will be at the church from 10am Friday until the time of the Mass.
Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 1:30pm.
Ramona was born in East Lansing, Michigan on October 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Leonard and Alma (Spires) Goodall. She moved to Flint, Michigan at a young age, attending Flint public Schools. Ramona graduated from Flint Central High School, Class of 1946. She later married Jimmie Edwards Sr. and from that union, three children were born, Jimmie Edwards Jr., Juanita (Edwards) Vaughn, and Jacqueline Edwards. Sometime later she married Burgess W. Loar Jr. and from that union, two children were born, Burgess W. Loar III and Carolyn (Loar) Sparks. Ramona loved to read, checking out 7-10 books every two weeks from the Flint Public Library and reading them all. She liked to draw and write poetry as well. Ramona enjoyed listening to classical, jazz, and music from her younger years. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church for many years and also served in the Alter Society.
Ramona leaves behind to cherish her memory, three daughters, Juanita Vaughn, Jacqueline Edwards and Carolyn (Loar) Sparks, whom were also her caregivers;
grandsons, Andre Vaughn, Troy (Melissa) Vaughn, Leonard Sparks, Jr., Tyril (Kaitlyn) Sparks, Marquan Sparks, who was also her caregiver and Matthew Sparks, Jamil Anderson and Jeremy Edwards; granddaughters, Latoya (Anthony) Earnest, Attorney, Jade (Alfred) Cureau; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren;
special cousins, Joyce (Homer) Matthews; nieces, Sharon Allen, Drucilla Allen; sister-in-law, Darlene Briggs; special family friends, Father Phil Schmitter, Pat Maestaz, Frankie Dolehanty, Will Eubanks, Anita Miles, Tommy Edwards, Leonard Sparks Sr., Connie Dobson; Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lavern Goodall, sister, Beatrice Hamilton, husband Burgess Loar Jr., sons, Jimmie Edwards Jr. and Burgess Loar III, grandson, Jimmie Edwards III and great-granddaughter, Kristina Sparks.
