McCloud, Greta Grace (Frechette Barsalou) - Age 78 , of Linden, died February 15, 2014 at her residence. Greta's Celebration of Life will be held 3PM Friday, February 21, 2014 at Abby Park, 3221 E. Baldwin Road, Grand Blanc, MI. Parking will be at Halsey Methodist Church, at the corner of Halsey and Baldwin Roads. Shuttle service will be provided. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Manchester, CT, next to her brother Elmer later this summer. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan (FBEM) (https://www.fbem.org/). She was born June 18, 1935 in Madawaska, Maine. Greta was an alumnus of the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee Falls, MA and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in 1957. She was an educator, teaching at a private elementary school while raising six children of her own. She was also an entrepreneur and business woman, she started her own hat making business "Originals by Greta; ran her own paint and wallpaper store in Thousand Oaks, CA; she worked for both the banking and travel industries; and finished her career as a real estate agent in Sun City Center, FL. Greta enjoyed many creative activities such as painting, knitting and crocheting. She was also an avid bingo player and played cards with friends as often as she could.
Greta is loved and will be missed by her sons and wives, Paul and Susan Barsalou, John and Patty (Michelson) Barsalou, Tom and Sande'e Barsalou, Michael and Jennifer Barsalou; daughter, Lisa and Greg Davis; daughter-in-law Lirio and Rich; sister, Rose and Ralph Bledsoe; brothers, Rod and Terry Frenchette, Herman Frenchette and sister-in-law Patricia Mitchell. She will be missed by twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews,cousins, and friends. Greta was preceded in death by her husband, Joe McCloud; father, Denis E. Frechette; mother, Germaine (Lang) Frechette: brother, Elmer Frenchette; son, James Robert Barsalou. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
