BENJAMIN, David – of Flint, MI, age 87, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Symphony Linden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant and Rev. Fr. Carl Simon co-celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10-11 AM Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to churches for masses, in David’s memory.
David was born in Flint, MI on December 10, 1934, son of the late Peter and Katherine (Priselac) Benjamin. He married Elaine Wright in June of 1981. David retired from General Motors in 1999 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Crotian Club in Flint/Detroit. David enjoyed all sports, at Sacred Heart High School where he was All State, All Parochial and Honorable Mention All American in basketball and received several Division 1 Scholarships. He loved to travel, spend time with his family and his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Deb (Dan) Basilius, Michael (Tina) Benjamin, Lilly Reeser, David (Diane) Benjamin and Matthew Benjamin, stepson, Paul (Carrie) Motz; 16 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; siblings, Bob (Lorraine) Benjamin, Mike (Mary) Benjamin and Lillian “Cooky” Abraham; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Steve Benjamin, Agnes Gall, Selby Goad and Mary Bagley.
