WOOLWINE, Basil James Edward – of Davison, MI, age 81, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor David McGowan officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2022 and 10-11 AM Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Free Will Baptist Church, in Basil’s memory.
Basil was born in Matoaka, West Virginia on December 5, 1940, son of the late Brainard and Ethel (Cecil) Woolwine. He married Nancy Reid on November 7, 1959 in Clinton, Iowa. Basil retired from General Motors in 1992 after 28 years of service and was a member of UAW Union #326. He attended Friendship Free Will Baptist Church. Basil ran the Euchre Club at the Davison Senior Center for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Basil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Woolwine; 3 children, Donna (Doc) Wright, Tina Gifford and Jake (Karen) Woolwine; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen “Kat” Kettle; special friend, Bob Moore; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brainard and Ethel Woolwine; son-in-law, Bob Gifford; 8 siblings and special friend, Rod Cooper.
