PETERS, Marvin Howard – of Burton, MI, age 87, went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, November 30, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Goodrich, 6116 South State Road, Goodrich, MI 48438; Pastor Ben Gonzales and Pastor Kevin Holland co-officiating. Interment 2:30 PM Saturday, December 9, 2023 in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10-11 AM Saturday, December 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Goodrich. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Goodrich’s Building Fund, in Marvin’s memory.
Marvin was born in Greenville, MI on May 24, 1936, son of the late Howard and Ruth (Ketner) Peters. He spent his younger years in Langston, MI. Marvin was a graduate of Lakeview High School Class of 1954. He married his wife of 68 years, Clela Halliwill, in June 1955. They spent the majority of their married life in Davison, MI. Marvin graduated from General Motors Institute and then earned an associate degree from Mott Community College. He retired in the fall of 1986 from AC Spark Plug as a tool and die maker. Marvin was a member of First Baptist Church of Goodrich for many years and was active in many programs. He loved being outdoors, enjoying God’s creation. Marvin enjoyed gardening, fishing, archery, bow hunting and was an avid bird watcher. Marvin also did a beautiful job wood carving birds.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Clela Peters; daughter, Shari (Dennis) Davis; son, Jeff Peters; 6 grandchildren, Kevin (Maria) Howe, Andrew Peters, Jennifer McHenry, Alicia (Will) Spence, Robert (Jessica) Peters and Ashly (Micah) Maxwell; 2 sisters, Ruth Jones and Mary Peters; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ruth Peters and son, James Peters.
