ANDERSON, Marion - Of Fenton, age 99, died Monday, October 5, 2020 at her residence.
Private graveside service will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Marion was born in York, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1920. She graduated from York School of Nursing and continued her education at U of M Ann Arbor. She completed her Master’s Degree and was very proud of her education. She started the first Nursing School program at Flint public schools. She enjoyed walking, especially at Genesee Valley Mall. Her greatest passion was her education. She was the first in her family to earn a college degree, became a registered nurse in 1942 at York Pennsylvania Hospital of Nursing. She later moved to Michigan to attend the University of Michigan and study communicable diseases. She put herself through school by working as a U of M dorm nurse.
Above all else she loved being with her family.
Surviving are son, Charlie (Suzanne) Anderson;
daughter, Louisa Homburg;
grandchildren, Charlie (Tara), Michael and Thomas;
great-grandchild, Easton;
sister, Evelyn Bastardi; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Fannie and Samuel Gross; biological parents, Howard and Ether March; siblings, Nelson March, Howard March Jr., Charlie March, Louise Anstine and Gladys Neiman.
