CONTOS, Gust – of Davison, age 92, passed away December 3, 2012 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 7, 2012 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 E. Baldwin Rd., Grand Blanc; Rev. Fr. Angelo Maggos officiating. Burial, with Military Honors will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 & 5-8 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Trisagion Service will be held 6 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church or Valley School, 5255 Linden Rd., Swartz Creek, MI, 48473.
Gust was born in Flint, MI on November 2, 1920, son of the late Sam and Catherine (Dalyians) Contos. He married the love of his life, Mary Jane Haire in 1941 and she preceded him in death in 1995. Gust was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Davison Country Club and the Flint Elks for more than 50 years. He owned and operated several businesses in the Flint area.
Gust is survived by his children, Kaye (Richard) Panchula, Michael (Kristina) Contos; son-in-law, Dr. E.J. (Jackie) Daros; grandchildren, Dr. Antony (Amy) Daros, Sabrina (Craig) Jensen, Tiffany Schafer, Dr. Alexandra (Shaun) Beier, Kandis Contos, Kasondra Contos; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Curtis, Costa, Zoe, Arabella and Savannah; sister-in-law, Cleo Coulacos; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Anne Northway. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Daros; brothers, John and James; sister, Beatrice Birtsas.
