Alex was born in Daisytown, PA on March 12, 1931, the son of the late Louis and Helen (Krishan) Pastor. His parents immigrated to the United States from Tenke, Hungary. He married Roberta (Bobbie) Salgat on June 1, 1993. Alex graduated from Northern High School in 1950 where he boxed in the Golden Gloves and usually was the winner. He hired into AC Spark Plug in 1951 and schooled at GMI becoming a Tool and Die Maker Journeyman in the 29 Tool Room. He answered his Country’s call and served in the United States Navy on the USS Hornet and Leyte from 1951 to 1955. He retired in 1993 with 43 years from AC. Alex was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Alex loved his dog, Pumpkin and together (with Bobbie designing) they built a tree house and park in the backyard, their white picket fence as well as crafts to sell and kept busy with remodeling jobs. Alex was very handy and could fix anything. Often he would repair items and give them away. Some of his favorite places include Habitat for Humanity as well as the Salvation Army along with any curbside finds in which he could discover new treasures. Above all, he adored and loved his wife, Bobbie.
Alex is survived by: sisters, Helen McCarney of Burton, and Julia (Jack) Williams of Burton; brothers, Steve (Delores) Pastor of Grand Blanc, and Louis (Eileen) Pastor of Mt. Morris; daughter Linda Bendall; three grandchildren, and Bobbie’s daughters, Dawn Salgat of Davison, Judy Salgat of Lapeer, and Kelli (Rick) Polehna of Davison.
The family is grateful to Heart to Heart Hospice and to the many friends and family that helped along his life journey. May God grant eternal peace to a hard working man.
