WARD, Michael Vincent - Of Swartz Creek, age 88, died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Courtyard Manor in Swartz Creek.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday, January 16, 2018
at St. Mary’s Queen of Angels, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek, Michigan 48473

Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 5-8pm Sunday and 1-4 and 5-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Tuesday at church until the time of the Mass.
Michael was born in Athenry, County Galway, Ireland on July 21, 1929, the son of Martin and Sarah (Darcy) Ward. Michael worked 27 years at A & P Warehouse. He retired from Mott Community College as a Groundskeeper after 15 years. Michael was a longstanding member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and was presently a member of St. Mary’s Queen of Angels Church in Swartz Creek, Michigan. He was a past member of St. Joseph Guild and an active member of Knights of Columbus. Michael was married to his first wife, Carol for 38 years. Following her death, Michael married Sophia Lechota on May 15, 1998. Michael’s hobbies included gardening, watching Detroit Tiger baseball and Detroit Red Wings hockey
Surviving are wife, Sophia;
children, Martin and wife Kelly of Flint, Patrick and fiancee, Lindy of California; Rosanne and James of Farmington and Brian and Harvetta of Flint;
grandchildren, Phillip Ward, Matthew Ward, Michael Ward, Janci and husband Aaron Pettitt, Anthony and wife Pam Ward, Liam Goodhall, Leah Goodhall, Brianna and husband Corey McCarty and Conor Ward;
and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Autumn.
Michael lovingly referred to all his grandchildren as “His Lovies”
Also surviving are siblings, Mary and Helen;
and sister-in-law, Ann Choiniere.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Sean and Ambrose, brother-in-law, Tom Choiniere, daughter-in-law, Dorrie Ward and grandson, Jacob Adams.
